Adjustment Options

Introduction to Adjustment Options

In this article

Adjustment Options are preset buttons your staff can tap on any order to add a surcharge or apply a discount on the spot. You decide the name, whether it is a flat amount or a percentage, and which business units it can be used on. Once saved, the option appears in the cart at the POS, and the name you typed shows on the receipt. Use them for quick flexibility, like a VIP discount or a one-off delivery surcharge, without changing your main price list.

What are Adjustment Options

Adjustment Options are preset discounts or surcharges that staff can apply to an order when needed. They help teams apply common adjustments consistently, such as a promo discount, delivery fee, or urgent service charge, without entering the details manually each time.

Use them for manual price changes that should be clearly shown on the order, receipt, or invoice.

Adjustment Options vs Price Rules

EasyBiz has two pricing tools that sound similar. The difference is who applies them, and when.

ToolWho applies itWhen to use
Adjustment Options (this article)Your staff, manually at the counterQuick buttons for common one-off discounts or surcharges
Price Rules (separate setting)The system, automatically when conditions matchA permanent rule, like "all Sunday bookings get a 10% surcharge"
📝 Note: If a discount or surcharge should always happen on its own, set it up as a Price Rule. Adjustment Options are only for things staff choose case by case.

When to Use Adjustment Options

Use them when staff decide case by case, for example:

  • A goodwill discount for a complaining customer
  • A one-tap VIP discount for a regular, instead of typing a percentage
  • An extra fee for stained, oversized, or fragile items only when it applies
  • A handling surcharge for cash on delivery or odd-hour pickup, only when it applies
Example 👉 : A laundry shop sets up VIP Discount 10% and Stain Treatment Surcharge $5. Staff taps the VIP button for a regular, and adds the $5 only when a garment needs stain treatment.

What About Express Booking Surcharges

For an Express Booking surcharge, you can set it up directly under Booking Options, where it charges the express fee automatically once an express date is chosen. See [Setting Up Booking Options] (Coming Soon). Adjustment Options are only for things staff add or remove one order at a time.

FAQs

Will an Adjustment Option be charged automatically?

No. They never apply on their own. Staff taps the option on the cart each time. For automatic charging, use Price Rules.

Will the option name show on the receipt and invoice?

Yes. The name you type is exactly what the customer sees on the receipt, invoice, and any document the order appears on. Keep it short and clear, like "VIP Discount 10%".

Can I use the same option on every business unit, like both Laundry and Bag Repair?

Yes. By default an option works on every business unit. You can limit it to specific ones when you create it, but that is optional.

Do I need to set up Adjustment Options before I go live?

No. They are optional. You can launch with none and add them later as real situations come up.
