Assigning Your Pipeline to a Business Unit
In this article
You have created your pipelines in Settings. But until you assign them to a Business Unit, they will not apply to any orders. This is the final step that connects everything together.

Where to Do This
- Go to Settings from the top navigation bar
- Under Administration section, click Business Units
- Click the name of the Business Unit you want to configure
- Scroll down to the Order Pipeline section
What You Will See
The Order Pipeline section has three fields Production, Pre-Production, and Fulfillment.
- Pre-Production -> separate columns for counter orders and online orders. Leave counter orders set to None, assign your Home Pickup pipeline to online orders. None means orders skip Pre-Production and go straight into Production.
- Production -> one pipeline shared across all order types. Select the Production pipeline you created.
- Fulfillment -> separate columns for counter orders and online orders. You can assign more than one pipeline per column — for example, both Store Pickup and Home Delivery. The first one in the list is the default shown in the cart.
Example Assignment
Use this setup as your starting point
| - | Counter orders | Online orders |
|---|---|---|
| Production | Service | Service |
| Pre-Production | None | Home Pickup |
| Fulfillment | Store Pickup + Home Delivery | Home Delivery + Store Pickup |
With this setup walk-in POS orders go straight into Production the moment they are paid. Online orders enter the Home Pickup Pre-Production pipeline first. At fulfillment, staff choose Store Pickup or Home Delivery per order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to set up all three phases?
Production is required — without it nothing works. Fulfillment is needed so staff and customers can choose how the order is returned. Pre-Production is only needed for online or WhatsApp orders that require home pickup or quoting first.
What if I do not assign any Fulfillment pipeline?
Your POS and online checkout will have no collection or delivery option. Orders cannot be properly completed without a fulfillment method selected.
Can I assign more than one Fulfillment pipeline per column?
Yes. Assign both Store Pickup and Home Delivery so staff can choose per order. The first one in the list is the default shown in the cart.
Can I change pipelines after orders are already using them?
Yes, but be careful. Orders already in a stage stay there until they advance naturally. If you remove a stage that active orders are sitting in, those orders may show an unrecognised stage until they move forward.
When does a POS walk-in order skip Pre-Production?
Always. Walk-in orders come in already confirmed so they go straight into Production. Pre-Production only applies to online store or WhatsApp orders.
Want more advanced stage tracking?
You can set up Work Orders to have each Production stage generate a task for your team — completing the task automatically advances the order. This is covered in a separate guide. See [Setting Up Work Orders] (Coming Soon)
